State Theatre summer acting camp returns begins July 11.

The Producers of the FREDDY Awards and Prestige Production are proud to present its Summer Acting Camp at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton. This year’s camp will be held July 11-22, with a Camp Recital on July 23.

The camp is sponsored by Crayola.

Early Class Registration is $235 through March 31.  Starting April 1, the fee is $260. Information and Registration form can be found at http://statetheatre.org/acting-camp, or call the box office at 610-252-3132. The fee includes two tickets to the July 23 Recital. Scholarships are made possible by the Thomas F. Staley Foundation.

The camp is broken down into four groups, grades one – three, four – five, six – eight, and nine – 12. The two week course is designed to include an educationally based yet fun-filled theater experience where the spotlight is on the student. Each child will rotate daily between three classes (acting, music and dance), learning valuable lessons and tips needed in all phases of theater. Some subjects covered include audition technique, presentation, terminology, character development, scene work, improv skills and acting games, choreography, show preparation and musical technique. Each year is a unique experience.

Class for the camp will begin on Monday, July 11 and run weekdays through July 22. Morning sessions run from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5 p.m. The last day of regular class (Friday, July 22) is a full day, morning and afternoon, for all students. The course culminates in a student-showcasing recital on Saturday, July 23 where the students will perform on the stage of the historic State Theatre.

Class size is limited to 25 students per group. Currently, the morning sessions for grades one-three,  and afternoon sessions for grades four – 12 are available.

The Director of the State Theatre Summer Acting Camp is Denise Crawn, owner of Prestige Productions, who brings extensive experience in theatre including acting, directing and producing.
