More than 2,000 bibliophiles are expected to visit Flemington for the Flemington Summer Book Fest, Memorial Day weekend.

The East Coast’s largest Memorial Day Book Festival, Flemington Summer Book Fest, will be returning to the Borough Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-30.

More than 2,000 bibliophiles are expected to visit Flemington for the event. The Festival, presented by Flemington’s own Act 2 Books — used, fine and rare books — will once again be anchored by the Colossal Tent Event, a sale boasting more than 10,000 books from Act 2 Books plus several thousand LP’s all offered for sale at just .99. Records and comics are being offered by Groovy Graveyard Movies, Music and Monsters, of Asbury Park, an official sponsor of the event for several years.

An exciting addition to the Festival this year will be the Local Authors’ Showcase, providing a free venue for dozens of local authors to interact with thousands of book lovers and readers. The Showcase will take place May 29 on Central Station and the Stangl Cultural District along Stangl Road.

Many other bookish events are scheduled for Sunday as well.

The Festival will also be maximizing its brick and mortar presence to do good in the neighborhood.” According to Mike Uhde, founder of Act 2 Books, “We’ll be raising funds for our local libraries, collecting food for local food pantries, and donating thousands of books to local literacy programs. We never forget that we’re part of this incredible and supportive community.”

Other events will include a Treasure Hunt, Show Appraisal Day and Buying Days. Festival goers bringing a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank will receive a free book. More information can be found at SummerBookFest.com and at Flemington Summer Bookfest on Facebook.
