has a jam-packed event schedule for its 270th anniversary season.
Easton Farmers’ Market, presented by Capital Blue, is located at Scott Park, along Larry Holmes Drive. Shoppers can find the freshest and best as they shop more than 45 vendors in the spacious, outdoor area from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays (May-December).
Honey Bee Day
The following week, the market will celebrate local pollinators during Honey Bee Day on Saturday, June 25. Guests can learn all about the amazing honeybee — a vital player in our food system during National Pollinators’ Week. Funny Farms Apiaries will discuss “Beekeeping Basics” at 10 a.m. on the Scott Park Stage.
Visitors can also enjoy a honey tasting and check out a demo hive, plus enter to win EFM prizes at the information tent. Market vendors will have lots of honey treats and kids and pups can dress in their bumblebee finest. Families can also take part in a Honey Bee Tea Party & Storytime ($5 per child) that starts at 10:30 a.m. Colin O’Leary will perform on the Scott Park Stage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sigal Museum will be instructing visitors to make hand-rolled beeswax candles.
Those interested in learning more about beekeeping can sign up for Easton Garden Works Beekeeping 101 workshop, and head there after the market. Longtime apiarist Mike Angelo will lead a beginners’ class, with 12 spots available. The free workshop will be held Saturday 1-2:30 p.m. at Lower Hackett Garden. To register, please email [email protected].
Free parking for Easton Farmers’ Market will be available in the two lots adjacent to Scott Park, thanks to Riverstar Properties and the Law Offices of Florio-Perrucci. Vendors accept cash, credit, Venmo, PayPal, checks and EBT. Visit eastonfarmersmarket.com for online ordering information for participating vendors.
Easton Farmers’ Market will continue to accept EBT as part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Thanks to a USDA grant through Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Greater Lehigh Valley (BFBLGLV), the market will offer LV Fresh Food Bucks with EBT purchases matched by BFBLGLV, up to $10 per day. Those enrolled in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) for qualified seniors, and those in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program in New Jersey and Pennsylvania will be able to use their vouchers at produce vendors who participate in their state’s programs.
Sponsors for the 2022 EFM season include: Capital Blue, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Air Products, IBEW Local 102, Nurture Nature Center and Astound Broadband.
