Salem Community College will host the next Salem County Sports Hall of Fame (SHOF) induction ceremony on Aug. 22. This free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Davidow Theatre in Davidow Hall, 460 Hollywood Ave., Carneys Point.
The Salem County SHOF Board has selected the following individuals for induction:
- Lex Bleckley (professional baseball)
- Jaymes Dennison (track)
- James Dickerson (track)
- Nick Elmer (football)
- Steve Merritt (coach)
- Donna O’Leary (coach)
- Latika Ross (basketball)
In addition, the Salem County SHOF board will recognize Vince Gioia and Steve Lopes for their decades of service to Salem County sports.
The following high school state champions will be recognized:
- Penns Grove High School’s Boys Track Team — NJSIAA Group I State Champions – 2013-2014-2015
- Penns Grove High School’s Girls Track Team — NJSIAA Group I State Champions – 2013-2014
- Pennsville Memorial High School’s Megan Morris, Pole Vault — 2024 NJSIAA Group I State Champion
- Salem High School’s DaviYonn Jackson, Triple Jump — 2023 and 2024 NJSIAA Group I State Champion
- Salem High School’s 4 x 100m Relay Team — 2024 NJSIAA Group I State Champions — Sairis Jimenez, Karima Davenport-White, Morgan Van Dover, Rhi’Onna Timmons
- Salem High School’s Shot Put Relay, 2024 NJSIAA Group 1 State Champions — Dominique Lewis and Ryann Mulhorn
- Arthur P. Schalick High School’s Jordan Hadfield, Cross Country — 2023 NJSIAA Group I State Champion, and 1600m — 2024 NJSIAA Group I State Champion
- Woodstown High School’s 4 x 800m Relay Team — 2024 NJSIAA Group I State Champions — Karson Chew, Joshua Crawford, Jacob Martino, Cole Lucas
