The artwork of Salem Community College Associate Professor Jenna Lucente is now permanently featured at the recently renovated Elizabeth Station in Elizabeth.
Commissioned by New Jersey Transit, Lucente designed glass artwork for four elevator towers in the station, each three-stories high. The towers feature a mix of architecture and tree life unique to the area. In addition to New Jersey Transit, Lucente collaborated with Standard Bent Glass on the production of this public artwork project. The Elizabeth Station, located 15 miles southwest of New York’s Penn Station, hosts more than 2,800 commuters daily.
Previously, Lucente designed and installed a permanent public art project for the Arthur Kill Station on Staten Island, N.Y., through a commission by MTA Arts & Design. That project was included in a recently released book: “Contemporary Art Underground: MTA Arts & Design New York” by Sandra Bloodworth and Cheryl Hageman.
An accomplished artist, Lucente maintains a studio at the Delaware Contemporary. She is also the caretaker for SCC’s pet therapy dog, Elodie.
