Northampton Community College (NCC) nursing student, Charissa Karcher, received the Everyday Hero Award from Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) this January for her work in fall 2022. As a part of her program, Charissa is a part of the nursing float pool externship at LVHN. The award is presented to a student for their help on the nursing unit and who takes the most initiative in developing their skills and knowledge within nursing.
Only one award was given and voted on by the entire LVHN network of nurses for fall 2022.
“We are so proud of Charissa and the commitment she has to this program and her future career in nursing. She is a dynamic student who displays tenacity and excitement for nursing and caring for all patients across the lifespan. I am very proud, and not surprised, that Charissa was selected for this special award,” said Thomas Warren Rush, professor of nursing at NCC.
Karcher was honored at an award presentation held at LVHN Muhlenberg on Jan. 4.
