The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will be offering half-day programs for children ages 2.5-3 during the school year
The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA will offer half-day preschool readiness programs for children ages 2.5-3. The programs are designed to educate, engage and grow young minds as they get ready for preschool and beyond.
Both the Y’s Toddler Plus program for children age 2.5, and the Three Day 3s program for children age 3, are state licensed and feature the Creative Curriculum and CATCH health and wellness activities. Both also include music and gym, with the Three Day 3s also incorporating one swim lesson per week for potty-trained students. The programs follow the same calendar as the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District and will run from September-June.
“The Y’s preschool readiness programs are designed to help young children acclimate to a school setting and give them the skills needed to enter preschool,” said Diane Romond, child care director at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA. “In our programs, students will develop socially, emotionally, physically and academically while making new friends, exploring the world around them, and just having fun.”
The Toddler Plus program is open to children who will be 2.5 years old by Sept. 1. It will be held Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Three Day 3s is open to children who will be 3 years old by Oct. 1. It will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Families have the option of extending the Three Day 3s program an additional hour with Lunch Bunch from noon to 1 p.m.
Registration for these programs is open to active members of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA.
