On June 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will gather at Oceanport Paddle Club located at 10 Riverside Ave. Oceanport for a good cause.
Following a river cleanup, there will be a Standup Paddle Charity kids, and adults which will consist of an 8-mile and a 3-mile course to raise money for Autism charity and Environmental initiatives.
The back-to-back events are the 2023 Oceanport Paddle Club Shrewsbury River Cleanup and the SEA Paddle NYC @ OPC Charity Paddle.
Thunder 106 will be at the event with promotional giveaways, including station merchandise, enter to win prize(s), games and more. Radio personalities will be broadcasting from the event with live commercials and interviews.
Prior to the event Press Communications will be airing, on their radio stations, commercials and PSAs promoting the event recorded by former major leaguer Rick Cerone.

There will be volunteer opportunities for clean up on land or water. OPC is seeking volunteer groups, individual volunteers as well as sponsors to help with the event. Event information and volunteer registration can be found at https://oceanportpaddleclub.com/opccleanandrace/.
OPC plans to build on the success of its 2021 river cleanup and take it to the next level by doubling its efforts in 2023. They will expand coverage to more towns, increase the amount of debris they collect, recruit more volunteers, and secure additional sponsors. With this ambitious plan, OPC aims to make an even greater impact on the environment and the communities it serves.
Local businesses will be on hand with booths at OPC. Many sponsors will receive advertising and marketing through the event as well as an opportunity to be included in ON-AIR commercial spots. Following the cleanup, OPC will be endorsing the SEA PADDLE NYC @ OPC, a charity paddle organized and run by Surfers’ Environmental Alliance (SEA), a local 501c3 committed to the cultural and environmental integrity of the sport of surfing. Oceanport Paddle Club is located on the former Fort Monmouth property, which is undergoing major redevelopment overseen by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA). The site is located just minutes away from the train and Garden State Parkway, as well as the new Monmouth Medical Center Campus and hundreds of new homes at Fort Monmouth. Additionally, the upcoming Netflix Studios will be located nearby. The former military base is experiencing new investments and developments from businesses and institutions, including the proposed establishment of one of the world’s largest film production studios by Netflix.
