In honor of Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (JDAIM), the JCC of Central NJ in Scotch Plains is hosting a Special Needs Resource Fair on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The JCC is located at 1391 Martine Ave.
This JCC’s fair is about helping individuals with disabilities and their families find the right resources to create meaningful, enriched lives, which coincides with JDAIM’s worldwide effort: to raise awareness and champion the civil rights of all Jewish people to have access and be meaningfully included in every aspect of Jewish life.
“Inclusion is a core value at the JCC,” said JCC Director of Inclusion and Diversity Beth Mitchell. “We have made barrier-free, inclusive programs and support services for our community a priority for over 20 years, so hosting this fair is a natural extension of that.”
The Special Needs Resource Fair is free and open to the community. The fair features more than 50 vendors representing a wide variety of specialties, including ABA therapy, travel, camps, schools, special needs attorneys, dentists/orthodontists and many more.
Mitchell is thrilled to bring back the Special Needs Resource Fair this year after a pandemic hiatus. “Our goal is to connect the community with hard-to-find resources across the state that support people with disabilities and their families. We are so proud to host a one-stop, accessible event that will help so many families.”
In addition to the Special Needs Resource Fair, the JCC has also compiled its third-annual Special Needs Resource Directory, which is a free resource for the community. The newly published 2023 directory can be accessed at https://www.jccnj.org/specialneedsdirectory/.
